“Social Tidbits

When did I start writing poetry and why?

At a young age, I found myself to fond of woman and the things that matters to them.  I think most of that came from my mother raising me to love and respect women, as how I loved her so dearly and thought of her as the best mom in the world.  I actually did tell her this all growing up, and mostly sometimes a week after a got a great big spanking and being taught a lesson, but hey I love my mom.  I am not sure why I squeezed that in there, but it’s relevant for the fact I loved the ladies, and but I was shy went I was young, so my note writing skills and charm from words were my best skills.  I had to perfect this skill to communicate in a unique way to the ladies and have them smiling and flattered by the words I wrote.  It did help a lot as well, that I was very comedic, passionate, and honest with my words.  I spoke and to this day still speak from the heart with my words.  I always say exactly what I mean, and work hard on never have

What is poetry to me?

Poetry to me is passion, honest and creativity all in one.  It’s your thoughts, it’s your expression, it’s your soul released through an art form for various purposes.  To me poetry was an escape and release of thoughts I never shared with others, for I don’t think they would really grasp my words, metaphors and style.  I knew what I wanted to say and in a certain fashion, and poetry allowed me to be myself.

I truly love to read poetry and wish to read more from books and blogs of people I can reach out to via I love the intimate feeling of conversing with them and gathering their point of view and passions.  I shall be reaching out to a few of my great friends (that what I call them) that writes the most fantastic poetry I ever read.  I love the old and most advanced writers our the past, but I want to be among the new and interact with the new and great writers of the present.

This week I am helping out in the blogging community on tips of how to grow your blog and how to write great posts.

How To Write Great Posts

This is simply a big question for new bloggers or bloggers who believe their writings should pick up more traffic via they are writing great content.  Well I am going to break it down very simply.  I am not much for words and a killer lists of to do lists of what you should do, but these tips I am about the mention are the best you can use to write great posts.

1. Write or come up with interesting titles.  Make them short, no word that say 4-8 words.  The shorter the better and the actual word you choose matters.  Also if you are going to use short words, in the title, make the letters all caps, via it stands out more and seem more of a headline than a regular post.  It’s all going to be converted to lower case with in address bars at the end for search, but on your blog and to your readers, it’s more visually attractive.

2. Add a category and tags to all your blog posts.  It is vital for search and how people will discover your writings. When using categories, only use one to three choices, one is more ideal, via you don’t want to spam the community and your chances to be seen as well give a general idea of where your topic of writing with be turning towards.  When it come to tags, be very general, and don’t try to tag everything, using about 8-10 or less is a better way to grasp your subject/content matter.  And use general topics only unless you are writing a niche topic or branding by the tags you use, in which you really would have to know exactly what you are doing.

3. Write your posts in your voice, using more (you than I) to engage the reader based on what you are writing about.  You are speaking to readers, so think of how you would to like to sound or how you would like to sound to others and write your content with that in mind.

4. One of the most important of all, is to add some sort of photo, video or images, to add some spice to your content.  Think of a visual aid to influence someone to click in and read.  Also an images may help tell the story in combination with the title.  Also make sure the image of choice is somehow relevant to your content.  Think of dates, people, places, objects, concepts, and add those images into your posts.  One to three images or videos would be ideal based on how long your post is and to get your point across and etc.

5. Lastly, write from your heart.  Only write things you are passionate about, whether, it’s about your life, poetry, art, food, health or more, just write and enjoy.  Create a space for your readers to want to drop by and send some time with you.

So keep all those in mind and experiment a bit if you are new until you find a great balance of what works well.  Also be engaging, use some personality, ask a question, and surely if someone loves your work or just so, they will leave a comment, or like your post or share it with others based on their experience reading.  Create a moment or experience for your readers.

How To Grow Your Blog

Growing your blog once started is always a tough things to grasp once you hot a plateau.  Here are my four prime advice to give towards growing your blog and still keep being yourself.

1. Your blog theme is a very important element to growing your blog.  We like visual and content together when we search for blogs or things to catch our eyes, so selecting a theme or color scheme helps tells us about your as a blogger, writer, publisher and keeps us on your site.  So try a few and settle on one and go for it.  A rule of mines is, I am always upgrading my blog by checking out other popular blogs and more to see how they display their content and work towards presenting my content in a better fashion.  I also tend to change the theme of my blog yearly, sometimes every 8 months, in order to give a fresh feel to my followers, as well

2. Add value to your content.  Value makes your blog worth coming back to and also to be talked about.  So even if you don’t write that many content or they are very personal, try to add a post or two that highlights some insight you have that others may want to know or is searching for, and present it to the world.  Creativity is the key here.  In order to grow my blog personally, I researched things I would love to see in the world, content wise that I know a good amount about and create a few series based on my love, and after a while of writing stay consistent, I saw the traffic and viewers pouring in.

3. Reach out to other bloggers, leave comments, do not spam anyone, but write a great email to a few your respect or inspire you, and ask for a tip or a trade or help in order to grow your blog.  Don’t be scared, and don’t get mad if they say no, but be proactive and kindly ask why, and you might see from another perspective of what you might have missed that may be helping your blog grow.  Also if you hear the same feedback from more than one person, just adopt a tough skin and work on upgrading and make vital changes.

4. Interaction, sharing, and keep writing.  Mention your blog to a friend, interact with other bloggers, create meet-ups, do a giveaway, try new ways of marketing and advertising, for that’s what it’s really all about.  To grow you must try new things and adapt new technique, for if your content is already good, the only thing left is to just be seen and to seen by more faces.

If you built it they will come.  I know you might have heard the saying and think it’s dumb but it’s the absolute truth.  Start blogging today and often and get better, then the more your practice, the more content you write the more chances you will be seen and the more your value your blog will hold.

If you need any additional tips, feel free you leave a comment or tweet me or email me and I will help you out the best I can with information. 🙂

The days of summer are upon me.  I can smell the air, and I can see the people all around.  It shall be an interesting summer to watch and take in, for there is a storm of passion erupting me to create.  And I can tell you this much, I love the bubbling feeling.

Remember to humble yourself, some things take to mature, just stick by its side and see the evolution over time.
