HOW TO LOSE 30lbs [Fitness and Health]

I am happy to announce to myself that I am reached my milestone of losing 30 pounds lost as of today.  Sorry for this post being a bit one-sided, but I will fill you in a bit on how I lost it.  At a certain point in my life, I guess I was just doing a whole lot of eating, well wrong eating and I gained some weight.  I have always worked out all year around, but that’s not a solution of being healthy.  I would eat, exercise, play sports but I would not lose the weight, and at a point I felt trapped.  But my eyes started to open, my challenges and research got even better and I worked hard on my goal.  It took about two years and more to lose the entire amount, for I was doing many things wrong and only maintaining the weight.  I was simply stuck on one weight for almost 9 months until I decided to live better and change my habits.

Here are a few tips I learned to lose the weight.  Let me remind you, there was no shortcuts taken, no starving the body, no extreme diet pills taken or so on.  This was just natural and gradual wight lost.

First thing, stop watching what other’s do.  Everyone’s body is built different and not everyone is honest in what they do to lose weight.  If you are waking up today to just find out people tend to lie or hide their insecurities then I am glad you are now waking up for there is more learning you have to do.  So start to look at your body and figure out what are your trouble, injuries, where you lose weight the most at, what type of exercise you hate to do, for the more you know yourself, the better the planning.

Think of alternatives.  You know you have a sweet tooth, so think of all of the things you love to eat and the flavors and find low-calorie and fat-free foods that replaces all the foods you were eating.  Take me for example I love strawberry cheese cake, and I would eat a whole cake in say two days if you left me alone.  So there is yogurt on sale weekly with strawberry cheese cake as a flavor at only 80 calories, 6 ounce container, 6 grams of protein and only $.6o cents each.  So instead of an over a 1,000 or more entire cheesecake, you replace it is a healthier alternative, and add few extra food intake to other healthy foods to go with it such as bananas, apples and blueberries.  You don’t even have to go crazy.

Do not starve yourself or try to miss meals.  Try your best to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.  They don’t have to be big meals, but definitely eat.  Add a few snacks in between, an apple, a hand full of nuts, popcorn or a yogurt.  I mean everyone can’t eat the same things, but you should research those food you love and eat.  Try for 5 eats for the day, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, then get some rest.  Just try to keep around the 1500-2000 calories a day limit.

Sleep is vital to your health and fitness, you need sleep.  Please do not hit yourself with this term, team no sleep, for that will add you to the list of team soon to be injured, fatigue and other health problems.

Another tip, try to stay away from carbs.  I know it sounds like what those uptight health crazy people say, but it’s true.  Try for more light carbs.  And also try to only consume it by the early afternoon, but not late night.  So little to no rice, bread, breaded foods, cake, beer, alcohol, keep those on a very minimum.  If need some motivation look at your belly and ask yourself, how long do you want to keep it looking the way it is.

Avoid giving yourself unrealistic goals.  It’s a lifestyle you are working on, not a get fit quick method.  Work on goals such as 6 months or a year to develop a habit and lose a good amount of weight.

For the hard part, work out about 4 to 6 days a week.  Make 2 of those days cardio days with light weights.  You don’t have to have a gym membership.  You can pick up a sport like tennis or jogging, and find a park and work out.  You can also do it in your home if you have the space.  When working out, try to aim for an hour workout.

Think of simple things and goals.  3 sets of 20 reps of pushups, then the same with sit-ups, then 3 sets of 2 minutes of jumping jacks.  Workout every part of your body in set of muscle groups, and don’t over do it and try your best to avoid injury.  So push yourself to be better over a period of time and but be humble.

Other tips…

*) This is a lifestyle change, not a limited time offer to look better.  You have your whole life to live.  The further you go, the better you will feel, the more results you will gain and the better your life experiences will start to become.

*) Try to eat a fruit everyday or every other day.

*) After an intense workout day, always drink a protein shake to help refuel your muscles and energy.

*) Take multivitamins to help your body fill those gaps of minerals you don’t get from eating.

*) Research and keep tabs on your body and bad habits, and fight against them and peer pressure of others around you.  You need to be in a positive atmosphere.  Don’t be scared to ask for an opinion or help.

I know there is a lot of rules or tips, but these are rules everybody can follow to help lose the weight and be much healthier.

I am happy for my results and if you ever have any questions, shoot me a comment, tweet or facebook message and I would be glad to give you some pointers and point you to great health professionals I know that if you follow their guide, will lead you to a healthier lifestyle.

My 2012 CARDIO vs CARBS Challenge: NO RICE, NO BREAD

Hi everyone, it’s Richardo here.  If you are currently reading this and you are new to my blog, then you are soon to find out I live life to the fullest and I also challenge myself constantly to be the best I can be.  Shout out to all my new subscribers and followers, and if you are not one, you should join the fun. 🙂 Nice plug right?  I am sorry.

Either way, I want some awesome sexy abs and I have beenworking hard at it.  But eating too much rice and bread can hinder that goal.  Carbs can be evil.  So evil I am excluded it out of my diet.  I don’t want to but I have to.  This is the most extreme challenge I have ever set myself for too this date.  If you are from the carribbean such as myself (Jamaica) we eat big plates of food and rice and also hard dough bread from golden krust among other places.  Rice is a crucial part of our meals.

So now you know NO RICE and NO BREAD is a big deal to me at least.  Not only am I going for no rice and bread for 30 days, I am getting back into running and riding bikes too so I am adding a cardio fat burning factor to my challenge.  I ride the bike at the gym, I go on the treadmill and I go running outside, to add to my cardio performance for my workout and weight loss, so I challenge myself  to do 10 miles 4 days a week for 30 days.  So that means 16 days of 10 miles runs or riding, on a moderate level.

Recently I have lost 11 lbs at the gym, and seeing success in my workouts.  I have added so much intensity and various workouts that my body is confused and burning fat smoothly.

I hope I can beat this challenge.  After the next 30 days I will let you know the results and the amount of weight or muscles I have gained from this challenge.

so…

No Rice or Bread for 30 days
and

10 miles (4 days a week)

*side note:  The reason why I don’t go everyday for 10 miles, is because I need to rest my body and also I play soccer, basketball and tennis on the other days.  I would be completely burned out.

A good diet and exercise equals weight loss and a healthy lifestyle.

Are you looking to loss some weight?  Are you working out and eating effectively and to be healthy?  Do you think I will win this challenge against myself?
